Envidan enters into acquisition agreement in Sweden

As part of the ambitious growth strategy, Envidan has acquired the Swedish VA INGENJÖRERNA with support from the European private equity fund Waterland.

CEO of Envidan, Morten Fjerbæk, explains:

“We are proud to present VA INGENJÖRERNA (VAI) as part of Envidan. VAI has some very strong competencies within our areas of expertise with a focus on turnkey contracts within water and wastewater facilities, which complements our existing business very well – both in Sweden, but also in relation to our Danish and Norwegian businesses.”

VA INGENJÖRNA employs 47 people in 5 offices in Sweden and has provided contracting solutions within both water and wastewater to Swedish municipalities, utilities and industries since 1991. VA INGENJÖRERNA thus has a good reputation and a strong customer base throughout Sweden and, in addition to contracting, has strong competencies in process services as well as IT and automation.

Focus on customers and projects

The change of ownership will not affect the high quality and service that customers are used to. Anders Ekström, General Manager of VA INGENJÖRERNA, will become CEO of the new company, which he will help develop together with all the employees who are already part of the company. It will therefore be ‘business as usual’ for customers, and it is essential for VA INGENJÖRERNA that the customer experience remains the same. Anders Ekström says:

“We have a strong position in the Swedish market, where we are known for our high quality and technical expertise in the projects. This will continue to be the case in the future, and we look forward to becoming part of Envidan. In the sales process, they have shown a great understanding of our field and a wish to build upon the strong position we have in the industry.”

First step on an exciting journey

In December 2020, Envidan changed owners when the European private equity fund Waterland acquired a majority share in the company. Together, the two have set out an ambitious growth strategy to further develop Envidan, with an ambition of creating a European environmental company that provides solutions within the entire water cycle. The strategy implies growing in depth, not in width. Morten Fjerbæk elaborates:

“We want to create the best professional environment in our field, where there is space and skills to develop the solutions that the water sector demands, both locally and globally. At Envidan, we have a long tradition of investing in innovation, and we believe that by focusing on what we do best, we can become an even stronger sparring partner for our customers, while giving our employees the best opportunities for personal and professional development. We are delighted that VA INGENJÖRERNA will now be part of this.”
